NOTICE OF BUDGET AND TAX RATE MEETINGS

The Town of Quintana will hold a Budget Meeting at 5:00pm, a Tax Rate Public Hearing at 5:30pm and A Regular Council at 6:00pm or immediately following the tax rate hearing on September 17th, 2024 at the Town of Quintana Town Hall located at 814 N Lamar Street in Quintana, Texas 77541 for Discussion of items, Possible approval of items, Possible approval of Budget and Possible Adoption and Record Vote for Tax Rate for FY 2024-2025. The Proposed Tax Rate is 0.012561 per $100. of value.

A must-visit in Quintana is the Neotropical Bird Sanctuary, developed in cooperation with the Gulf Coast Bird Observatory and the Town of Quintana. This sanctuary is a haven for birdwatchers, offering a chance to observe a variety of migratory birds in their natural habitat. Within the sanctuary, you’ll find the Alongis Cornett Observation Deck, which provides visitors with a stunning vantage point to view the surrounding area.

Quintana Beach County Park offers a family-friendly getaway with its sandy beaches, picnic areas, campsites, and nature trails. Perfect for swimming, birdwatching, or simply relaxing by the Gulf, the park is a central spot for enjoying the natural beauty and outdoor activities that Quintana, Texas, has to offer.

Quintana Beach County Park, fronting the Gulf of Mexico, is uniquely located on Quintana Island. This park is filled with History (historical characters, colonization, Spanish exploration), Nature (beach, dunes, wildflowers, cattails), Birds (migratory, seabirds, shorebirds) and Recreation (fishing, boating, birding, sports).

Day use, first-rate facilities include paved off-beach parking, boardwalks, covered and/or shaded pavilions, air-conditioned cabins for overnight visitors, community house, hiking trails, restrooms and showers, wooden fishing pier, a playground, pedestrian-only beach with palapas for relaxing, two historic homes and an interpretive center.

RV facilities are exceptional. These include paved and level camping sites, individual picnic tables and outdoor grills, group camping areas, premium and full service hookups, dump station and bathhouse with restrooms, showers and laundry facilities.

Quintana Xeriscape Park

Quintana Xeriscape Park is an environmentally conscious attraction in the Town of Quintana, Texas, showcasing drought-tolerant plants that thrive in the coastal environment. The park demonstrates sustainable landscaping practices through the use of native and adapted species, offering visitors a peaceful space to enjoy nature while learning about water conservation. Informational signage provides tips on incorporating xeriscaping at home, making the park both a serene retreat and an educational resource, reflecting Quintana’s commitment to environmental stewardship.

Achieved through a lease with the Port of Freeport and a grant from Texas Parks and Wildlife, the park offers refuge to many types of wildlife and birds. Freeport LNG came in and donated a whole city block as well as a grant to upgrade and maintain the park. With combined efforts of Town volunteers and FLNG, the park has water features, walking paths, benches, plants and flowers, and new parking.

Morrison Park

Quintana’s newest park on CR 723 is named after Johnny and Wilma Morrison for their numerous donations and volunteer work they have and continue to contribute over the years. Morrison Park offers the perfect spot to fish, crab and catch bait.
